Memorandum of understanding with Egypt to develop Somalia’s natural resources

12 February 2020 Cairo, Egypt. The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with his Egyptian counterpart His Excellency Tariq Al Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, at the Egyptian Petroleum Show (EGYPS2020) in Cairo to help develop Somalia’s natural resources.

EGYPS2020 is the largest oil & gas conference and exhibition across Egypt, North Africa and the Mediterranean. The two-day conference provides a platform for industry interaction and co-operation between senior officials and leaders of national and international petroleum companies. This year the event revolved around the theme of “North Africa and the Mediterranean: Delivering the Energy Needs of Tomorrow,”.

The Minister held several talks with His Excellency Tariq Al Mulla during the conference and both signed an MOU that establishes mutual co-operation between Egypt and Somalia in the development of petroleum for the benefit of both countries.
