Memorandum of understanding with Sudan to develop Somalia’s natural resources

10 February 2020 Khartoum, Sudan. The Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Government of Somalia, His Excellency Abdirashid Mohamed Ahmed, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) with the Sudanese Minister of Energy and Mining H.E Adel Ali Ibrahim, to support in the development of Natural Resources in Somalia.

The Minister led a two-day official visit to Sudan, where he held meetings with top officials at several mining and energy companies in the capital, Khartoum. During his visit, the Minister informed the companies of the steps that the Ministry has taken to create an attractive fiscal and regulatory environment for the development of Somalia’s natural resources.
 
The two Ministers expressed their intention to co-operate with each other and the MOU represents this positive intention. The signing ceremony for the MOU was attended by Somalia’s Ambassador to Sudan, His Excellency Mohamed Sheikh Isak, the General counsel Mr. Osman Ahmed, and the Commercial Attaché to the Embassy, Mr. Yusuf.
