ARABEY HASHI ABDI
Born in Beled Hawo, Somalia, in February 1972, Arabey Hashi Abdi is a highly driven individual who works in both the public and private sectors. With extensive experience in both business and government, he possesses a wealth of knowledge about corporate business and the growth of Somali community organizations.
Since May 2020, he has been responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Ministry while holding the position of Director General of the Federal Government of Somalia’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources. From 2015 to 2020, he served as Vice President of the Galmudug Federal Member State, during which time he was instrumental in the establishment of all state institutions, including the cabinet, security, justice, peace, and reconciliations, as well as the training of governors and mayors at all district levels. He is a member of organizations that support learning and research and holds a foundation degree in Managing Voluntary and Community Organizations (FDMVCO) from Leicester University.He also earned an MBA in Oil and Gas Management from Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom, a BA in Media Studies, and an MA in International Relations from Northampton University. Additionally, he is proficient in accounting and computing.
Arabey is fluent in Somali, English, Dutch, and Arabic, with a strong background in linguistics. He is also the author of numerous publications, including one that explores the background and history of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MOPMR).
Throughout his tenure in various roles, he has demonstrated his leadership by effectively leading, developing, and inspiring teams to achieve their goals.
